The Dentistry Show 2015

I went to the Dentistry Show yesterday and I had a great day.  My day started by meeting an old friend which was lovely.

I then went to get a feel for the theatre where I was presenting and to meet my theatre manager and sound engineer.

Then I set off round the stalls….

I’d prepared a list of those stands I wanted to visit to ensure I caught up with people, it can be easy to miss people otherwise.  I’d particularly wanted to find out more information on the AEDs that were available for purchase, about compliance and to speak to the specialist dental web designers.

AEDs and Emergency Equipment

There were 3 stands selling AEDs and other emergency equipment.  BOC had 3 different AEDs available for demonstration – the Heartsine, the Cardiac Science G5 and the IPAD.  Baldus had the Physio Control and although PSUK didn’t have any with them they say they have a range available.  I found BOC to be very knowledgeable about their products and prices, the prices ranged from 790+VAT to 999+VAT.

I also met the rep for Bausch+Lomb who sell the Emerade autoinjector, which I discovered is available to purchase at £27+VAT.

Compliance

Compliance I think will need a blog of its own!  I spoke to Keith Hayes from RightPath4 which was very informative.  However, as I say, I will blog separately on this subject in the coming weeks.

Websites, SEO and Social Media

There were a few companies there that will develop a website for dental practices and then manage that and your social and/or internet marketing.  As you know I’ve learnt to do this myself, where I never thought I would, so I don’t think it’s that difficult.  I thought these services were great if you just feel that it’s too much to manage all of that as well as your business and clinical work.

They range in service and price.  Many of their business models include a monthly charge for continued service.  Also generally they will cover the whole of the UK.  Personally, I’ve loved having a local web designer at Buxton Web Design this has enabled me to learn much more easily because we can meet face to face.  So check out your local companies too as you may find someone close to you offering the same service.

Medical Emergencies in the Dental Practice

I presented 2 sessions on Medical Emergencies in the Dental Practice in the Core CPD theatre.  I had some great feedback from the audience with people stopping me afterwards to say how much they enjoyed the session and my refreshing presentation.

I have uploaded my slides to Slideshare.net, if you were there and would like a copy please contact me and I’ll send you the link and password.

If you’ve been to the show I hope you had a great time too!
