How to Learn CPR
Even if you can’t access a face to face course there are online resources to help you learn CPR, such as Lifesaver, CPR Man and the RevivR training from the BHF.
I primarily work with medical and dental practices who undertake medical emergency and CPR training annually. They do this both as part of their safe practice and their on-going CPD, part of this is to learn CPR. For members of the public there are other ways to access this important training. You may wish to undertake a first aid course or often clubs will offer training. Charities such as the British Heart Foundation sometimes have training available too. The BHF currently have their online RevivR training that uses technology to give feedback on your compressions.
There are other useful online resources such as Lifesaver that includes four interactive films. The Chokeables film that demonstrates how to care for an infant that is choking. The other film that has been published by North East Ambulance Service is CPR Man. This is a fun animated film showing children doing the rescuing; having been put together by the ambulance service there is lots of good information in it.
As this film is aimed at children it’s worth noting that schools can access kits to enable them to teach CPR. Remember due to Covid it’s hands only at the moment as per Vinnie Jones back in 2012, can’t believe that was 10 years ago!
There is also an animation on Lifesaver showing how to reduce the risks due to Covid when doing CPR.
