CPR to be added to curriculum in England
Education Secretary Damian Hinds has confirmed plans that CPR and First Aid training are to be added to the curriculum in England. This means that by the time students leave Secondary School they will have been taught CPR and about defibrillators. This is great news and will hopefully see survival rates begin to rise. This has taken years of campaigning by the BHF, the Resuscitation Council and other charities and it’s great to see. If one life is saved it will have been worth it.
Please remember though that you can share your knowledge with your friends and family too. The picture above is of my son teaching my friend’s daughter how to use an AED, they were 11 and 5 at the time! If you’re not sure where to begin lifesaver.org.uk is a great place to start. If you’re a bit of a techno-wizard then you can even play one of the films in VR (virtual reality). You even get a score so you can see who gets the best score.
Feel free to let me know how you get on…I think the best score someone has achieved when I’ve been training is 84% but 60-70% is more common. Good luck!
