Effective Blogging

Effective Blogging workshop

On the 10th July I attended an Effective Blogging workshop organised by www.ebusinessclub.biz

I attended to learn more about blogging but I picked up some other tips useful tips. The presenter on the day was Liam Lally from Zaddle. He was what you need from a presenter knowledgeable and able to hold the interest of the group. His mantra is the first tip I’d like to share which is ‘Be Helpful’.

Be helpful

His advice is to be helpful in business and when blogging. This is one of my mantras too and fits well with my idea of business which is to help the businesses I work with as much as possible. I’m available to answer any queries over the year in between courses and to provide updates for staff as part of their induction if they need it.

He also recommended several websites but I thought 2 are particularly useful for professionals searching for items of interest on the net.

Feedly.com

This is a site that you can send all of your RSS feeds to. For example if you follow particular professional bodies or news updates you can have their updates sent to this one stop shop. They can then be categorised by you into appropriate sub-headings. This saves you having to check on each individual site and it’s free.

Getpockect.com

This site comes into its own when researching a particular topic. I’ve often been looking at something central to my project only never be able to find it again. This site puts an add-on on your tool bar which looks like ‘+pocket’. Then when you’re reading something that you want to save you simply click on the +pocket and it will be put in ‘your pocket’ and will wait for you there. I’ve shared this with my daughters who will be heading to university next year; I think this is invaluable for saving those online references.

These workshops are free in Derbyshire. I found the day very useful and would certainly recommend them. There are also some available in other areas.

Have you attended useful workshops recently not associated with your primary business?
