Safeguarding Children training for Dentists and Dental Practices

In April 2015 the GDC recommended Safeguarding training for dental practices, you can read further details here.  This is a quote from their statement:-

The General Dental Council (GDC) has confirmed that ‘safeguarding children and young people’ and ‘safeguarding vulnerable adults’ are to be included as recommended continuing professional development (CPD) topics for dental professionals.

The aim is to increase awareness about these important topics so that all dental professionals feel confident and equipped to raise any concerns about abuse or neglect of vulnerable people.

As a dental team you are well placed to observe children and whilst checking teeth to notice any other injuries in the oral cavity.

Orchard Training Services has expanded to be able to offer Level 2 Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Adults training. Our vision is to provide this training as a 2 hour ‘lunch and learn’ to run directly before or after your CPR update.

Danny Williams will be providing the training, you can read his profile here.  He has 30 years experience of working with families and Looked After Children, therefore you can be assured of his knowledge and competence.  In the first year we recommend having Safeguarding training and the following year having Vulnerable Adult training.  This will ensure you meet the level 2 guidelines of the Intercollegiate committee.

Even this week some of Helen’s customers have commented on difficulties in accessing Safeguarding training and it’s hoped that by expanding we will best meet our customers’ needs.
