What you will achieve and receive

This Medical Emergencies and CPR training for Dental Practices covers the essential CPD elements for Dental teams, as recommended by the Resuscitation Council (UK) and the General Dental Council.

Each delegate receives a certificate which is valid for a year and includes regular follow ups and updates to ensure your team are kept up-to-date with the latest changes.

Who should attend this course?

This course has been developed for the whole Dental Practice team and is delivered in-house at a time convenient to you.

What does it include?

This course is underpinned by the Chain of Survival and focuses on the assessment and management of an unwell adult using the ABCDE approach.  This course also includes the recognition and initial management of :-

  • Anaphylaxis
  • Choking
  • Asthma
  • Cardiac chest pain
  • Sepsis
  • Hypoglycaemia
  • Fitting
  • The unconscious casualty and the recovery position

The course includes a discussion and demonstration of the emergency equipment and emergency medicines you have available.

Having discussed medical emergencies we then focus on CPR for adults, children and infants.  The use of an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) is included.  All participants then practice (in pairs) on all age groups and with the AED.

The course is 3 1/2 hours.

Who delivers the course?

This course is delivered by Helen Watson, a registered nurse with 30 years experience and registered Advanced Life Support Instructor with the Resuscitation Council (UK). Helen’s experience includes nursing and teaching within secondary and primary care.

To ensure that our courses represent current practice and outstanding quality Helen continues to teach within the NHS. She participates in the teaching of five to six Advanced Life Support course a year and supports other NHS Trusts in the delivery of their mandatory training. She recertifies as a Resuscitation Council Instructor every four years.  This means Helen can demonstrate and teach from real hands-on experience in all situations.

Our training is generally delivered at your place of business to enable the training to be personalised to your Practice and available equipment.  In order to maintain our high quality service and standards all courses are limited to 12-15 participants.
